01Introduction

jeojeo is operated by Jeojeo Co., Ltd. (“jeojeo”, “we”, “us”). This policy explains what information we collect through the jeojeo mobile app and website, why we use it, who processes it, and the choices available to you.

02Data we collect

  • Account and profile data: Firebase user ID, name, email address, profile photo, bio, and Google or Apple sign-in provider details. jeojeo does not collect a separate account password.
  • Precise location: GPS coordinates used while location features are active, including foreground or background playback where you grant the required permission.
  • Listening history: Track ID and name, artist, artwork URL, track duration, playback time, timezone, and the latitude and longitude associated with playback.
  • Content and activity: jeos, jeojeos, routes, shapes, place summaries, names, descriptions, visibility settings, saves, shares, searches, Lookback names and descriptions, and feedback you submit.
  • Connected-service data: Spotify authorization and refresh tokens and music identifiers needed to connect and operate playback.
  • Device and diagnostics: Device and app identifiers, push-notification tokens, platform, app version, IP address, product interactions, session recordings, crash reports, performance traces, and related technical data.

03How we use data

  • Create and manage your account and profile.
  • Show your position, find active and nearby jeos, control location-based playback, generate place and route summaries, and create Lookback experiences.
  • Connect to music services, play music, remember saves and preferences, and provide sharing and discovery features.
  • Send service and product notifications when you allow them.
  • Respond to feedback and support requests, secure the service, diagnose failures, measure usage, and improve features.

04Location and listening history

When location features are active, the app reads precise location continuously to update the map and determine which jeo contains your position. On supported devices, this may continue in the background when you grant background access. Playback logs may associate a song with a precise location and time so jeojeo can build your private listening history and Lookback.

You can change location permission in your device settings. Disabling it stops location-based features. Public jeos and jeojeos may reveal the location or geometry you chose to publish; your live position and private listening history are not made public by jeojeo.

05Public content and sharing

Content marked public can appear in discovery, search results, shared links, and other users’ saved collections. This can include your profile identity, jeo or jeojeo names and descriptions, music selections, locations, shapes, and routes. You can change supported content to private in the app. Information you send through your device’s share sheet is handled by the destination you choose.

06Analytics and diagnostics

Production builds use PostHog for identified product analytics and masked session replay. We may send your Firebase user ID, name, email address, product interactions, and device details. Text and images in replay are masked. Sentry processes crash reports, performance traces, device data, IP address, and available user identifiers to diagnose reliability issues. These services act as processors for jeojeo and do not receive permission to use this information for advertising.

07Service providers

We use Firebase and Google Cloud for authentication, storage, messaging, remote configuration, hosting, and databases; Google Maps services for maps, places, routes, and geocoding; Spotify for music search and playback; PostHog for analytics and masked replay; Sentry for crash and performance diagnostics; Slack to receive feedback you submit; Apple and Google for sign-in; and Vercel to deliver the website. Each provider processes information under its own terms and privacy commitments.

08Retention and deletion

We retain account data and content while your account is active. Listening history, feedback, notification tokens, and connected-service tokens are retained while needed to provide their associated features. Operational logs, analytics, diagnostics, and backups follow the retention settings of the relevant provider and may remain for a limited period after deletion before rotating out.

Delete your account in the app under Settings → Delete account, or use our account deletion page. Deletion permanently removes your jeojeo database account and associated jeos, jeojeos, saves, Lookbacks, listening history, feedback, device tokens, and connected-service tokens. The service also deletes the Firebase authentication account and all uploaded profile photos. We may retain information where required by law, to prevent fraud or abuse, or to establish or defend legal claims, and will limit it to that purpose.

09Your choices and rights

  • Change location, photo, and notification permissions in device settings.
  • Change supported content between public and private in the app.
  • Disconnect Spotify by deleting your account or revoking jeojeo in Spotify account settings.
  • Request access, correction, deletion, restriction, objection, or portability where applicable under local law.

10Website cookies

The website uses a functional cookie named NEXT_LOCALE to remember your language for up to one year. It is not used for advertising. Hosting providers may process standard request logs, including IP address and browser information, to deliver and secure the site.

11International processing and security

Our providers may process information outside your country, including in the United States and regions where they operate. We use access controls, encrypted network connections, provider security controls, and restricted administrative access to protect information. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.

12Children and policy changes

jeojeo is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided information, contact us so we can remove it. We may update this policy as the service changes. We will post the revised policy here, update the date, and provide additional notice when required.
